an evening of provocative stories written by Philip Estrera, Emily Kitchens, and Patricia Lynn October 12-26, 2019 at West End Theatre
Cleverly crafted by Hunger & Thirst company members Philip Estrera, Emily Kitchens, and Patricia Lynn, Strangers in the Night is a provocative night of theater that examines the strange intimacy that can unfold between total strangers. Join Frank—the ultimate stranger—as he plunges you into two dark and differing worlds: the possibly haunted mansion of Screwed and the wild lonely forest of Bottling Dreams of the Tearful Don’t-Knower. As Frank discovers the stranger within, we discover how these two seemingly divergent short stories evoke surprisingly similar ideas regarding intimacy, truth, and fear of the unknown.
Tickets and more information will be available in September
Strangers in the Night features the world premieres of two one-act plays:
Loosely inspired by The Turn of the Screw by Henry James, SCREWED follows a determined police officer as he questions a clever governess accused of killing her ward. A tense and disturbing tale about the pursuit of the truth, trying to believe the unbelievable, and rage...sudden explosions of female rage...
Nestled in the deepest, wildest heart of a haunted forest is a pool of tears. A man arrives to scoop them all up, but a disturbance in the deepest parts of the woods is a disturbance in the deepest parts of oneself. Bottling Dreams of the Tearful Don’t-Knower is a humorous tragedy about love, sickness, and crying without tears.
Strangers in the Night also features original monologues written by Philip Estrera, Emily Kitchens, and Patricia Lynn.
