Jordan Kaplan
Associate Artistic director

Picture
Jordan Kaplan was born and raised in Los Gatos, California. His first memories of performing are at convalescent homes with his Kindergarten class. He remembers crying and having horrible stage fright.  His first enjoyable stage experience was playing Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof at Camp Tawonga when he was about 11. He really wishes that was on video. While his performance was surely tender, heartfelt, and wise beyond his years, everyone who witnessed the one-evening-only production would say the highlight was during ‘Matchmaker, Matchmaker’, when one young girl proceeded to sing “Matchmaker, Matchmaker, make me a match, find me a…..oh f&@k!” Brilliant!

Jordan’s more serious experiences with theater began at the National High School Institute at Northwestern University. He received his BA in Drama with departmental honors from Stanford University and then earned his MFA in Acting from Brown University. That all happened way too long ago.

Since moving to New York City, Jordan has performed with many companies including the Guerrilla Shakespeare Project, Electric Pear Productions, Red Fern Theatre Company and the Astoria Performing Arts Center. He has performed regionally with American Conservatory Theater, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, Tennessee Shakespeare Company and Trinity Repertory Company.

Jordan is also a musician, playing the saxophone and clarinet. In addition, he is a life-long beginning guitar player and can play the recorder with his nose. Jordan enjoys saying “I’d like to add avocado to that”.  www.jordankaplan.net
