synopsis
“Don’t think of it as she’s turning into pure evil... think of it as if she transforms into female rage personified...”
When Jane Utterson discovers that her best friend is conducting a particularly dangerous experiment, she is faced with a difficult choice: should she support Jekyll’s quest to cure humanity of the darkness inside of them? Or should she reveal to the authorities why corrupt men keep being murdered all across the Upper West Side? Featured in our April 2019 An Evening of Monsters, Hunger & Thirst is thrilled to continue to develop this fresh and ferocious feminist take on Robert Louis Stevenson’s sinister novella: a riveting exploration of the elusive 'caged devil' that lurks deep within the souls of women today...
Pictured: Patricia Lynn, Lynnsey Ooten, and Natalie Hegg in workshop rehearsal.
JEKYLL will be performed as a script-in-hand, fully-staged reading presentation in hopes of receiving additional audience feedback before moving forward to a full production.
JEKYLL's runtime is 75 minutes with no intermission; there will be a brief talkback as well.
