2014 Season Audition Sides

Please select one side from each of the potential productions that you would like to be considered for. A reader will be provided. Due to time restraints, we may only ask to see one of your selections, but we will do our best to see all the sides you've chosen to prepare.

Contrafact of Freedom by Alex Pappas
A new play focusing on Francis Scott Key and the incredible chain of events that led him to write the Star-Spangled Banner. Specifically seeking actors comfortable with singing/playing a musical instrument. We are currently aiming for a summer 2014 production(s) at D.C. Fringe, NY Fringe, and/or Philly Fringe. 

The role of Francis is currently CAST. Available Roles Include:
POLLY
Female, 20s-30s. Francis's wife. The perfect hostess and life of the party.

NOTE: In this scene, Beanes is pretending to be a Scotsman in hopes that the British will be kinder to him. However, for audition purposes, a Scottish dialect is encouraged, but not required.

Male, 20s-30s. Actor will play a variety of roles including a British general, an American soldier, and a drunk British infantryman. Please prepare only one of the sides.
GENERAL ROSS: A seasoned British general. Confident. Please prepare with an RP Dialect.
REGE:  A British infantryman. Has severed longer than Will. Quite drunk. Please prepare with a London/Cockney dialect.

SKINNER: A young government official. In over his head. Anxious.
WILL: A young British infantryman. Quite drunk. Please prepare with a London/Cockney dialect.

The Animal Kingdom by Philip Barry 
A 1930s comedy of manners centering on one man, two women, and his struggle to discern which one is his wife and which is his mistress. We are currently aiming for a Fall 2014 production. The full text of the play is available at Project Gutenberg Canada.

The roles of Tom, Daisy, and Cecelia are currently CAST. Available Roles Include:

REGAN
Male, late 20s-40s. Ex-boxer who is now a butler. According to Barry: Has "the figure of an athlete...and a genial, ugly Irish face that appears at some time to have been thoroughly mauled."

The Seagull Project
A company-devised piece that tells the story of what happens in the two years between Act III and Act IV of The Seagull. We are currently planning to workshop the piece throughout 2014 with a full production in late 2014 or 2015. 

Since the text of this piece is still being developed, please prepare the available side from Chekhov's The Seagull (Curt Columbus's translation). We are currently only seeking the role of Arkadina.
